The WorkSafe Plan information session provides information on how to complete a WorkSafe Plan assessment and submit an application for a WorkSafe Plan Certificate of Achievement to WorkSafe WA.

Completing this information session is mandatory for anyone wishing to become a WorkSafe Plan Assessor.

About WorkSafe Plan

The WorkSafe Plan is an assessment process which can be used as an audit tool to rate an organisation’s health and safety management system. The assessment process is designed to encourage best practice and recognise achievements in work health and safety. The process can be used to identify areas of work health and safety that could be improved.

WorkSafe encourages best practice in work health and safety by presenting WorkSafe Plan Certificates of Achievement to organisations that have achieved significant work health and safety performance.

WorkSafe recognises three levels of WorkSafe Plan Achievement:

Platinum Certificates

are awarded to organisations that achieve the highest standards of health and safety management.

Gold Certificates

are awarded to organisations that demonstrate good progress towards a best practice approach to health and safety management.

Silver Certificates

are awarded to organisations that meet minimum standards of health and safety management.

Platinum Certificates

are awarded to organisations that achieve the highest standards of health and safety management.

Gold Certificates

are awarded to organisations that demonstrate good progress towards a best practice approach to health and safety management.

Silver Certificates

are awarded to organisations that meet minimum standards of health and safety management.

About WorkSafe Plan Assessors

An organisation seeking a WorkSafe Plan Certificate of Achievement from WorkSafe must engage an independent WorkSafe Plan Assessor to complete and submit the assessment.

To be qualified as an Assessor, you must:

  • have minimum certification as a principal or lead WHS auditor for WHS systems, e.g. Exemplar Global (RABQSA), IRCA or an equivalent body
  • be qualified and experienced in work health and safety (WHS)
  • be independent of the organisation being assessed
  • successfully complete this online information session
  • submit your current WHS auditor certification to WorkSafe to be recognised as a qualified WorkSafe Plan Assessor

WorkSafe Plan information and workbook
The workbook provides guidance and examples for each of the indicators which are used to score each of the elements that make up the WorkSafe Plan. It can be downloaded in both PDF and Microsoft Word versions.

WorkSafe Plan indicator rating table
This table is located in Appendix 1 of the workbook and provides guidance on determining the score for each indicator.

Work-related lost time injury/disease rate calculator
An Excel rate calculator is available on the WorkSafe website to assist in determining LTI/D rates. 

A summary of the WorkSafe Plan criteria
This table provides information on the WorkSafe Plan Certificate of Achievement levels and their subjective and objective requirements.

ANZSIC 2006 Industry division and subdivision benchmarks
The latest industry data and rates are updated annually and are located on the WorkCover WA website. 

Summary of scores
A paper-based score template is located in Appendix 2 of the workbook.
